SMS and WhatsApp on Essentials, Growth and Scale

How it works

From linked number to first reply in four steps

No separate texting app. Your team works both channels from the lead.

01

Link WhatsApp

Scan a QR code from WhatsApp's Linked Devices screen, the same way WhatsApp Web connects. One shared company number, plus a personal one per person.

Connect Company WhatsApp
02

Use your SMS number

Texts go from your workspace's SMS-capable phone number. Save templates with first name, last name and lead name tags.

New Template
03

Write from the lead

Pick the contact, type or start from a template, or ask for a suggested reply. The first text to a new lead shows its opt-out line before you send.

Answer in one place

Replies are matched to the contact and land on the lead's timeline and in the Messages tab of your Inbox.

One conversation, start to finish

Text, reply, follow up. The lead's timeline keeps both channels.

What's in WhatsApp and SMS

Everything a rep who texts all day needs

SMS conversation

Every text sent and received on the lead, with delivery status on each outgoing message.

Opt-outs handled

A reply of STOP blocks further texts and confirms it. START turns texts back on.

SMS templates

Save templates by category and share them with the team. Name tags are filled in when the text is sent.

Consent and send hours

Texts to leads without consent, or outside allowed hours in the lead's time zone, are blocked.

WhatsApp by QR code

Link a company number and personal numbers by scanning a code, no setup project needed.

Number protection

Warm-up limits, hourly and daily caps and a pause between sends help keep your number in good standing.

Suggested replies

Ask the AI for a suggested reply in the SMS or WhatsApp composer, then edit before you send.

One Inbox

SMS and WhatsApp replies arrive in the Messages tab of your Inbox and on the lead's timeline.

A closer look

Three things teams switch for

SMS compliance

Opt-outs and consent are checked before every text

The first text to a new lead gets your opt-out line, "Reply STOP to opt out." by default. Opt-out keywords block further texts, and sends to leads without consent or outside allowed hours are refused.

  • Edit the opt-out wording, up to 80 characters
  • Opt-out keywords include STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT
  • Texts to US numbers need an approved A2P 10DLC registration
  • Only the lead can undo an opt-out, by replying START

Essentials, Growth and Scale.

WhatsApp safety

Warm-up limits that protect your number

A newly linked number starts slow and earns its limit. Each account card shows Sent today and Sent this hour against the caps, and copy-paste blasts to many people are blocked.

  • First 7 days: 20 messages a day
  • Days 7 to 14: 80 a day
  • After 14 days: 200 a day and 30 an hour by default
  • At least 3 seconds between sends
Texting at scale

Many leads, still one text at a time

To text a list, add a Send SMS step to a workflow and let the trigger pick the leads. Each send goes through the same opt-out, consent and send-hour checks as a text from the lead page.

  • Trigger on a status change, form or call outcome
  • Hold steps inside a send window
  • Wait for a reply before the next step
FAQ

Questions about WhatsApp and SMS

Which plans include WhatsApp and SMS?

Both are on Essentials, Growth and Scale.

Do you support the official WhatsApp Business API?

Numbers connect by QR code, like WhatsApp Web. There is no screen to connect an official WhatsApp Business (Cloud API) number yet, so template messages and the 24-hour session window are not available.

Can I send a WhatsApp broadcast?

No. A QR-linked number cannot message five or more people in one send, and the same text to many contacts in a short time is blocked.

How do I text a whole list?

Use a Send SMS step in a workflow. The lead page sends one text at a time.

Can I send pictures by SMS?

Not from the app. WhatsApp messages can carry images, video, audio and documents.

Can I text US numbers?

Only with an approved A2P 10DLC registration. Registration is not available in the app yet; contact support. Texts to non-US numbers are not affected.

Which number do texts come from?

Your workspace's first SMS-capable number. Choosing a number per text is not supported yet.

Does my phone need to stay online for WhatsApp?

Yes. A QR-linked number depends on the phone staying online with WhatsApp installed. If it drops, click Reconnect and scan again.

Send the next text from the lead.

Get started, link WhatsApp with a QR code, and your first reply lands on the lead.
